Book Review: Identified Flying Objects by Robert Loftin

When I picked up this book I wasn't expecting to get a little history of Ufology. I suppose that I should have known that was what I was going to get considering that the book was published in '68. The author touches on sightings as way back as 1860. Actually the book was chock full of sitings and this was the only aspect of the book that made it a little difficult to read. The format Date, Area, Sighting was used in about 30 some pages toward the end of the book. However the sightings listed are perfect examples of further research topics and the reason I am interested in the first place, so I really cannot complain.

One of the biggest points that Loftin makes through out the book repeatedly is "Why would the Air Force spend almost $500,000 of taxpayers' money on this investigation if they knew there was no such thing as a flying saucer or UFO?"

Overall, Loftin provides a very medial view while discussing both sides, public and government sides of the UFO topic.

Loftin passed away a few after the book was published. I took the liberty of adding him and this book to goodreads.com username: highwaycatcherRelated articles

I Know What I Saw (2011)

I watched this documentary entitled "I Know What I Saw" (2011) when it first aired. I am re-watching it tonight. It's a pretty excellent one and I suggest you watch it.

Another NASA Video Footage of UFOs

GoogleCheck out :16 sec UFO streaks across the sky
3:40 UFO moves entering the frame and because a part of the storm cloud but the light never seems to go out!
4:58 UFO emerges out of the clouds!

Former CIA Agent on his Deathbed Reveals UFO TRUTH!!!

Google

This is a pretty interesting interview if this guy is who he says he is. Thinking about everything he witnessed is pretty unreal.

Man Summons UFO

Google

This is pretty neat, considering the new caster claims they set the time, place and day. I will totally believe this guy can summon a UFO if they could do this multiple times. He states that he has learned how to summon the UFOs from the Old Testament! I would be convinced if I witnessed it myself and not just advertised on the news.

Eric Davis, Physicist, Explains Why Scientists Won't Discuss Their UFO Interests

Google

Dr. Eric W. Davis, FBIS received his Ph.D. in astrophysics from the University of Arizona in 1991. His fields of specialization include spacecraft exploration of the outer solar system, planetary sciences, relativity theory and cosmology, space mission engineering, and NASA Breakthrough Propulsion Physics.

He's aware of the public perception -- mostly from skeptics and debunkers -- that no legitimate scientists would ever touch the subject of UFOs.

"They're wrong, naive, stubborn, narrow-minded, afraid and fearful. It's a dirty word and a forbidden topic. Science is about open-minded inquiry. You shouldn't be laughing off people. You should show more deference and respect to them ... Scientists need to get back to using the scientific method to study things that are unknown and unusual, and the UFO subject is one of them."

Eric has authored papers and given recognized presentations on quantum vacuum (zero point energy), traversable wormholes, warp drive and antimatter propulsion physics. He has also been recognized by the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics for outstanding contributions to national defense and space public policy, and received recognition from the State of Arizona Economic Conversion Council for contributions to commercial conversion of small-medium space and defense businesses in Arizona.

While speaking at the SSE event (see above) during the question and answer session, Dr. Davis was asked whether UFOs had “. . . guided [the] thinking and research” of such speculative matters as warp drive and traversable wormholes.

Dr. Davis responded, “Secretly yes and overtly no.” He explained that because “. . . UFOs don’t have credibility with mainstream academic researchers,” and because policy-makers and funding agencies “. . . don’t like the topic of UFOs,” some members of the group were forced to “. . . consider it under the table.”

...I think I love this guy!

UFO Files: Alien Abductions: The Evidence

Google

The Evidence? Hardly. I wasn't a huge fan of this video because evidence was something it did not provide. It's just another video to take you think.

I had heard of Fire in the Sky and the Walton Case before watching this video as well, and I have to say that my mind is still very undecided as to how much of their story I believe.

The topic of sleep paralysis angers me because who is to say that abduction phenomena cannot involve sleep paralysis? Who is to say that they are not one in the same? Who is to say that you actually have to leave your bed in order to be abducted? Personally I believe there are different levels of abduction, just like there are different levels of encounters. Perhaps dreaming is a form of abduction. Perhaps there is a transference of information throughout your REM sleep.

Just something to think about!

P.S. I am not sure why they chose to zoom in on Stanton Friedman's face like that...

The Maury Island Incident

GoogleJune 31, 1947 there was an allege UFO sighting that took the life of a dog and 2 B-25 pilots. The History Channel episode is broken up into 5 different videos on Youtube and you can watch them right here:

I checked out the UFO magazine website and I have to say that I was not impressed. Their site is full of broken links and just a plain piss poor lay out.

When watching this show episode I noticed they didn't at first even know who Kenneth Arnold was or his involvement in the Roswell incident. What a turn off!

The History channel has brought us some really great documentaries but I am not exactly feeling this "reality" show like feeling you get from this episode. It's just a bunch of guys digging in the dirt and under the water to find no real evidence to the existence of the craft. Not to mentioned the use of the word "slag" was so much it would drive anyone crazy!

I have to admit the story is very appealing. What is the connection between the UFO siting and the B-25 crash? If there was one these guys certainly are not qualified to find it. Yes they bring specialists onto the show to assist with the scientific analyzation of the samples collected but nothing was even found other than extreme heat.

Yes they found evidence of extreme heat during analysis but there was a fire on the plane but the fire could have reached temperatures of 4000 degrees. There is no telling what was aboard that plane when it took off. Who is to say that UFO debris would be magnetically charged in any way? They even admit to not finding a smoking gun.

All in all I think this is the biggest story UFO magazine has probably ever investigated and they had the help and funding of the History Channel. What do you think about this story?

ROSWELL, N.M.—A new website supported by a Roswell museum gives people a chance to prove that we are not alone in the universe.
The Roswell Daily Record reports (http://bit.ly/12IRq7M) that the recently launched roswellsightings.com allows anyone on Earth to upload photos or videos of sightings or encounters with what they believe are UFOs.
The website is based in New York and is from a partnership with the Roswell-based International UFO Museum And Research Center.
The user-friendly website allows people to share recordings on social network sites or watch the latest scientific news or other videos.
Program designers say they hope to complete a smartphone app to upload videos and photos to the site.
So far, witnesses have posted sightings from Argentina, Brazil, and South Africa.

The Edwards Air Force Base UFO Incident (1965)

In 1965, at Edwards Air Force Base near Palmdale, CA, up to 12 UFOs were spotted by military personnel. The event took place over a five hour period, documented with at least forty hours of communications audio recordings. Of those, six hours of audio were declassified and released to the public.

This is one of the most amazing military radio recordings I have ever heard. When you are listening to it you can't help but wait for something really intense to happen. If this isn't proof that there are things out there we cannot explain I don't know what is!

UFOs over Washington D.C. 1952

"The 1952 Washington, D.C. UFO incident, also known as the Washington flap or the Washington National Airport Sightings, was a series of unidentified flying object reports from July 12 to July 29, 1952, over Washington, D.C. The most publicized sightings took place on consecutive weekends, July 19–20 and July 26–27."
-Wikipedia

I do not recall ever hearing about these sightings in all of my research and at the end of this film I can see why. It was kept more secret then the H-Bomb!
